GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The annual Women Veterans Conference, scheduled for next weekend in Grand Rapids, has been cancelled.

“I was so excited to have everybody come to my city," said planner and U.S. Navy Veteran Theresa Robinson. "I was so excited, and had done a lot of legwork beforehand, and so it hurts my heart.”

Robinson said she received an email on Tuesday from the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency that said the event was cancelled due to state budget cuts. The cancellation was announced nine days before the event was supposed to get underway.
