A bomb threat targeting the Chennai office of the Press Trust of India (PTI) prompted swift action from law enforcement on Friday, leading to the evacuation of staff and the deployment of a bomb detection squad.

Without divulging the source of the threat, police said they had been informed to carry out checks at the Kodambakkam office of the premier news agency.

All employees present in the office were safely evacuated as a precautionary measure.

A thorough search of the premises was launched with the help of the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad and sniffer dogs.
