Sister Jean Dolores Schmidt, who was better known as “Sister Jean” and a long-time fixture at Loyola basketball games, has died at age 106.

Sister Jean became a huge celebrity during the 2018 NCAA men’s basketball tournament, as the Loyola squad made it to the Final Four in a string of shocking upsets.

Serving as the chaplain for the team, she served as a beloved figure both on campus and in the press, cheering the team from the sidelines and stealing the hearts of millions.
