You don’t automatically associate Luke Kelly with the golf course. Sean McGuinness, founder of The Dublin City Ramblers over five decades ago, has fond memories of the charismatic frontman of The Dubliners taking to the course.

“We weren’t the best golfers,” he says. “Luke wouldn’t always make it to the 18th hole. I remember one time, we met in Paddy Reilly’s house up in Rathcoole one morning and went to the ­local golf course.
