MATADOR, Texas (KCBD) - After falling short last week against No. 5 Borden County, the Sands Mustangs did all they could to avoid feeling the same heartbreak twice in seven days and came from behind to beat No. 7 Motley County 69-60.
Down 8-0 in the first, Sands RB Gordo Soliz took the pitch ten yards up the middle tying up the game. The Matadors answered soon after when Paul Johannes raced down the sideline, returning the lead to Motley County.
The Matadors held to a 52-47 lead late in the third until Mustang Noah Mathis took a ten yard catch, and turned it into a 30-yard highlight reel when he broke four tackles on his way in for the go-ahead score.
