I have been voting absentee for decades. As a truck driver, I often was away on Election Day and absentee voting made sure I didn’t miss an election. When I worked at the paper mill, my shifts were long — oftentimes I wasn’t off in time to go to the polls. And when my wife was sick, absentee voting was the only way she could vote.
I know I am not alone. Shift workers, health care workers, fishermen, the list goes on. They all depend on the ability to vote absentee no matter where they are on Election Day. We don’t want to disenfranchise those folks.
