Josh Norris’s injury concerns have returned early in the new season.

The Buffalo Sabres centre was hurt on a face-off late in Thursday’s 4-0 loss to the New York Rangers.

Norris was slow to get up after falling to the ice on the neutral zone face-off. He eventually got up and made his way slowly to the bench but did not take another shift.

After the game, head coach Lindy Ruff didn’t have a concrete update on Norris.

“He didn’t finish the game,” Ruff said. “So I’m gonna say that’s not a good sign.”

Norris has a history of injuries, including after he was acquired by the Sabres from the Senators last year.
