A Glasgow man whose life “fell apart” when he lost his sight says he wouldn’t be here today without his guide dog .
Carlos Rodriguez, 47, has been visually impaired since childhood, but his sight worsened severely when he suffered a retinal tear in 2016. He told Glasgow Live the tear caused a severe depression , the breakdown of his marriage, the end of his career and suicidal thoughts as he struggled to cope.
But Carlos says “every aspect” of his life changed when he was introduced to Marine, his guide dog. Carlos, originally from Paisley , said: “I was visually impaired, but I had enough vision that I got quite good at something called ‘passing’, which is essentially pretending to see better than you can — but you’re living a lie for many years.
