Books open children's eyes. They help them learn, they ignite creativity and they inspire children to formulate new, outside-the-box ideas that are their very own.

September is Rotary International's Basic Education and Literacy month, and the Rotary Club of Indio is doing its part to make books accessible to area students. They partnered with Read with Me Volunteer Programs to distribute books to more than 1,300 third graders at 14 public and private elementary schools in Indio. With book sourcing by Read With Me, this year's distribution continues a custom that goes back more than 35 years.
