ELK RIVER, Idaho – Idaho Fish and Game officers are investigating the illegal killing of up to four moose near Elk River. The incidents occurred earlier in October and have raised concerns in the community.
The moose were found on Potlatch-Deltic timber lands between October 3 and 5. Moose hunting in Idaho is highly regulated, with moose considered a once-in-a-lifetime hunt. Only a dozen tags are issued in the Elk River area, making these killings particularly significant.
Anyone with information about the illegal killings is urged to contact Fish and Game at 208-334-3700, or the Citizens Against Poaching hotline at 1-800-632-5999. Tips can remain anonymous, and rewards are available for helpful information.
