CRASH investigators have charged a Tamworth man with causing the death of a young boy in a collision two months ago.

Police allege the 38-year-old was behind the wheel of an Isuzu truck, and had the 14-year-old in the cabin with him, when he collided with the back of a B-Double truck.

The crash occurred on the Kamilaroi Highway near Wee Waa on the afternoon of Sunday, August 17.

Following lengthy investigations into the collision, the Leader can reveal the 38-year-old was charged by police from the Crash Investigation Unit in Tamworth on Friday, October 10, with the two offences.

He faces once count of dangerous driving occasioning death, and another of negligent driving occasioning death.

He also had his licence suspended on the spot at Tamworth Police Station on Friday afternoon
