The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality is seeking public input on a proposed renewal of an air quality permit for the South Yuma County Landfill.

The 30-day public comment period began on Wednesday, Oct. 8, and will run through Nov. 7. The permit renewal would allow the facility, located at 19536 S. Avenue 1E, to continue operations as a municipal solid waste landfill.

The landfill emits several air contaminants, including non-methane organic compounds, particulate matter (PM10 and PM2.5), volatile organic compounds, carbon monoxide and hazardous air pollutants.
