Edward Holley's second trial for the murder of Megan McDonald won't be held in 2025.

Holley's first trial ended in a mistrial after a jury was unable to reach a unanimous verdict after deliberating for more than a week in April.

The second trial was scheduled to begin Oct. 8.

However, the prosecution presented the defense with some new DNA evidence the week prior. It had been gathered from a vehicle at the time of the murder, but was only tested after the mistrial was declared.

The defense requested time to have their own expert analyze the new evidence.

When will second murder trial be held?

Orange County Court Judge Hyun Chin Kim has now scheduled the trial for Jan. 12. A pre-trial conference is scheduled for Nov. 17.
