In the mood for Mark Twain and spiritualism?
“Mark Twain’s Guide to Spiritualism and Séances,” presented by Connecticut-based historian Jason Scappaticci , is set for later this month at The Boathouse in Essex, according to the Connecticut River Museum’s website.
The event is slated for Wednesday, Oct. 22, according to their website, and runs from 6 to 7 p.m.
“While Mark Twain is celebrated for his literary masterpieces and sharp social commentary, he was also a deeply engaged participant in the 19th-century spiritualism movement,” according to a release. “Throughout his life, including his years as a Hartford resident, Twain’s fascination with the spirit world led him to attend séances, get his palm read, and meet with mediums.
