Donald Trump has not been awarded the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize as he so desperately wanted. The award has gone to María Corina Machado of Venezuela, leader of the democratic opposition. Corina Machado was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for "promoting democratic rights for the people of Venezuela."

The Nobel Committee in Oslo, Norway praised Corina Machado’s "struggle to achieve a just and peaceful transition from dictatorship to democracy." Machado has gone into hiding due to threats to her life, but has remained in Venezuela, a decision which has inspired millions. It is doubtful she will be able to attend the Nobel awards ceremony in Norway in December.

In recent days Trump has spoken at length about wanting to be the recipient of the Peace Prize for his work to bring peace to Gaza.
