NORWALK, Conn. (WTNH) -- A pickup truck driver was sent to the hospital Thursday night after rear-ending a tractor-trailer full speed on Interstate 95 in Norwalk, fire officials said.

Fire officials said the crash happened just before midnight between exits 16 and 17. Officials were told the driver was pinned and needed to be extricated.

At the scene, fire crews saw that a pickup truck had rear-ended a tractor-trailer, pinning the pickup truck driver.

The entire front end of the pickup truck was wedged under the back of the trailer, fire officials said.

Crews said they removed the door of the pickup truck while lifting the trailer to get the driver out.
