Thirty-seven Hickory area high school tennis players qualified for regional singles and doubles competition in pre-regional qualifiers on Monday.

Girls tennis teams finished their regular seasons last week. Under new rules, players now qualify for regional tournaments at pre-regional qualifiers instead of conference tournaments.

Each team sends two players to compete in the singles division and two doubles teams to a pre-regional. The Hickory High Red Tornadoes went four-for-four at the 5A pre-regional at North Lincoln High School on Monday.

Allie Schiebel and Gretchen Rodeck will represent the Red Tornadoes in singles competition at regionals. The doubles teams of Avery Mallard/Lela Caldwell and Lula Barefoot/Wryn Richardson will compete in doubles.
