MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WSMV) - Interstate 24 Eastbound was closed early Friday morning after a crash inside a TDOT work zone.

The crash happened near mile marker 79 just before 3:30 a.m., according to the TDOT Smartway map.

According to a spokesperson with TDOT, the crash involved a passenger vehicle and an attenuator vehicle.

The TDOT spokesperson added that a contractor was sweeping the inside shoulders in the area where the crash happened.

It wasn’t immediately clear when the blocked lanes would reopen.
