WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) - She hasn’t announced her candidacy yet, but Congresswoman Elise Stefanik’s gubernatorial ambitions have become a topic of speculation.
A new poll, conducted by Stefanik’s staff, puts the congresswoman 5 points behind Governor Hochul in a hypothetical gubernatorial race.
In voters deemed “informed,” Stefanik pulled ahead by a point.
Jefferson County Democratic Committee Chair Corey Decillis says he isn’t concerned about the data, though.
“I’m not saying there’s not some validity to it, but I’m not holding a lot of stake to it. It’s early and she hasn’t announced,” said Jefferson County Democratic Committee Chair Corey Decillis.
Other recent polls, not conducted by Stefanik’s staff, tell a different story. A Siena poll from last month showed a 25-point lead
