Alex Kingston has opened up about her secret battle with uterine cancer last year, revealing she is now in recovery. ‌

The Strictly Come Dancing star, who is partnered with Johannes Radebe in this year's series, was diagnosed after she "haemorrhaged" on stage during a play performance last summer. Initially, Alex dismissed her symptoms, which included bloating and aching, as "old age" and she "just sort of accepted it". ‌

However, she now recognises these were signs of her illness. ‌

The 62 year old former ER actress underwent a hysterectomy and radiation therapy, and has now spoken out about her health ordeal for the first time, reports the Mirror .
