Tons of fans turned out on Monday afternoon to cheer on Holland Van Gurp, a 6-year-old Summerlander with quadriplegic cerebral palsy, who made her way from Trout Creek Elementary to Powell Beach on World CP Day.
Holland’s family has a goal of raising $100,000 for a rubberized surface and accessibility features at her school.
“Yesterday was amazing,” said mom, Katie Van Gurp. “Holland did so well and managed to walk from the school to Powell Beach and then back – everybody cheered the whole time.”
The Van Gurps raised $13,997 thanks to Holland’s trek on Monday. And the Trout Creek Elementary Parent Advisory Committee helped raise $10,000 prior to that.
But there is still a long way to go. Any readers who want to chip in can e-transfer donations to: vangurpholland44@gmail.com .
