Fans have been left "flabbergasted" after learning that Marvel star Shawn Ashmore is actually an identical twin.

For years many fans were under the impression that The Rookie actor also starred as Gil in the hit Netflix series Ginny & Georgia only to discover that is in fact his twin brother Aaron Ashmore.

Thousands made the shock revelation after a Marven Cinematic Universe fan site wished the brothers a happy 46th birthday on X .

"TWINS???!?!?!?" one perplexed X user wrote.

Their comment was followed by thousands more equally confused fans.
