Three alcoholic beverage industry associations urged Telangana government to clear pending dues of over Rs 3,000 crore to suppliers and warned that the industry is in ‘existential crisis’.
The associations include Brewers Association of India (BAI), Confederation of Indian Alcoholic Beverage Companies (CIABC), International Spirits and Wines Association of India (ISWAI) and they have urged the government to use the money coming from the upcoming retail liquor shop license auction to clear the dues.
“Delayed payments from Telangana State Beverages Corporation Limited (TGBCL) has crossed over Rs 3,151 crore out of which Rs 2,300 crore is over an year old,” a joint statement from the associations read.
