BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - A deadly overnight crash shut down the interstate for several hours on Friday morning, Oct. 10.

The crash happened on I-12 eastbound near the Essen Lane and Airline Highway exits around 2 a.m. Law enforcement closed the area near Essen Lane as they worked the scene of the crash.

Emergency officials confirmed the crash was deadly, but no other details were immediately available. WAFB has reached out to the East Baton Rouge Coroner’s Office and Louisiana State Police for more information.
