The future of a historic public speaking program at University of Oregon is uncertain as budget cuts have eliminated staff support.
UO's Forensics program has been a mainstay at the university for 149 years — the college's claim to fame long before the Ducks football team was first formed. It was established just 10 days after UO opened in 1876. While the program started as a student club, in the 1940s it became a co-curricular program with academic staff support and a more robust footing in the Clark Honors College (CHC) .
