You’ve heard of distracted driving? Ron Trosper is dealing with distracted living in “The Chair Company,” the new HBO series that begins Oct. 12. Only his attention is diverted not by his phone but by his vast anxieties and frustrations.
A project manager in charge of the construction of a new mall in Canton, Ohio, Ron — who is played by metro Detroit native Tim Robinson — has a loving wife, two nice kids and his own glass-walled office at his firm's headquarters. But instead of focusing on his job and family, he becomes preoccupied with an incident at work that plunges him into a spiral of embarrassment.
