John Lodge, the singer and guitarist of the British band the Moody Blues, has died at the age of 82.
The family of the Birmingham-born rocker issued a heartbreaking statement confirming he was "suddenly and unexpectedly taken from us".
They added that the father and grandfather had died peacefully surrounded by his loved ones .
He is survived by his wife Kirsten and their children Emily and Kristian, the Mirror reports.
As a teenager , he was influenced by the music of Buddy Holly and Jerry Lee Lewis. At the age of 14, he met future bandmate Ray Thomas, and was involved in the Birmingham music scene for some time.
However, he elected to instead focus on his education , and studied engineering at the Birmingham College of Advanced Technology.
