WISCASSET, Maine — The 2026 Maine Teacher of the Year will be revealed next week.

Ahead of the announcement, Becky Hallowell, the 2025 Teacher of the Year, shared her experience and some advice for the teachers hoping to follow in her footsteps.

Hallowell said it has been a wonderful experience serving as Maine’s Teacher of the Year, but she’s excited to honor a new teacher and be able to spend more time with her students.

Hallowell is a grade four teacher at Wiscasset Elementary School, with a focus on nature-based learning.

Over the past year, she has represented Maine at National Teacher of the Year events, collaborating with educators across the country. She has been to California, Alabama, and just got back from a trip to Washington D.C. this week.
