A monthly event at Stetson Baptist Church in DeLand provides Hispanic families with fresh food and health screenings to help them stay healthy.

Every month, a line forms at the entrance of the church, where families receive fresh fruits, lean meats and produce to help fill their fridges.

"Everything they give us is something we need to make a meal," Martha Nunez said.

However, this event offers more than just food. At the end of the line, attendees can receive health screenings for blood sugar, cholesterol, and BMI, addressing the needs of those who may not know their health status.

Enrique Segarra, a member of the Hispanic Health Initiatives Board of Directors, highlighted the importance of these screenings.
