New Delhi: The National Capital Region (NCR) states requested the Supreme Court to allow green firecrackers in Delhi and surrounding cities during Diwali. Representing the NCR states, solicitor general Tushar Mehta told the SC bench of Chief Justice BR Gavai and Justice K Vinod Chandran that green firecrackers could be allowed between 8 pm and 10 pm on Diwali.

Mehta told the SC bench that the states are just making suggestions and are proposing a balanced approach for the court to consider.
