NEW BRITAIN, Conn. — The human remains found in an abandoned New Britain home earlier this week are of an adolescent girl, according to city officials.

The Mayor's Office said Friday morning that police are still investigating after being called to a property on Clark Street on Wednesday afternoon for a report of suspicious behavior in the area. No other details regarding the remains have been announced, pending further results to be released from the Chief Medical Examiner's Office.

Police discovered a large container in the backyard area along the fence line, and it appeared that remains were inside.
