Take a walk down Coventry and Warwickshire canals and waterways and you are sure to glimpse all manner of creatures. Voles, swans, ducks and fish are perhaps more traditional sights - it's certainly not every day you see farmyard animals going for a swim.

But this is exactly what happened on one stretch of the Oxford Canal in Rugby when numerous cows were recently seen 'treading water'.

Luckily help was at hand and firefighters rushed to the scene to help the beleaguered bovine. The incident, which happened on Thursday (9 October) was initially shared on social media by volunteers at Hillmorton Locks.

The post explained how volunteers were going about their usual tasks, such as updating signage or painting bridges, when they spotted something unusual.
