Convicted killer Roy Lee Ward’s execution has been carried out at the Indiana State Prison in Michigan City.

The execution process started just after midnight, and he was pronounced dead by lethal injection at 12:33.

Ward was convicted for the 2001 rape and murder of 15-year-old Stacy Payne in Spencer County.

This was the state’s second execution this year.

The third since resuming the death penalty after a hiatus of more than 10 years.
