ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Ashley Rogers, a breast cancer survivor, co-founded a support group for young women battling breast cancer, which has grown to nearly 200 members since its inception.
Rogers, who was diagnosed with stage 1 hormone-positive breast cancer at the age of 35, found a lack of resources for younger women like herself during her treatment. This led her to establish Breasties: Young Breast Cancer Warriors of Northern Illinois, in 2019 with two friends.
"I was crushed. You know, your entire outcome changes," Rogers said, reflecting on her diagnosis. "It felt very isolating being someone who is younger."
