Why is the Eagles’ offense struggling so much?
Eagles players were repeatedly asked that question after their second loss in a row, this one a 34-17 blowout to the New York Giants on Thursday night at MetLife Stadium.
The Eagles went 1-for-9 on third downs, had two turnovers, and rushed for only 73 yards. While quarterback Jalen Hurts threw for a season-high 283 yards, the passing offense faltered at key moments and failed to score in the second half for the second week in a row.
At the root of the problem is an inconsistent offense that is not executing at a high level. It threatens to derail the Eagles’ season.
“The execution isn’t there,” Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson told reporters in the locker room. “We get behind the chains. We get very predictable, I think sometimes.”
