A 12-year-old boy was killed when a fire engulfed a house in Margate on Thursday afternoon, officials said.
The fire broke out around 4:30 p.m. at the home in the 5000 block of Southwest 6th Street.
City of Margate officials confirmed Friday that the 12-year-old boy's body was found inside the house by firefighters who were attempting to rescue him.
Two other adult relatives were home at the time and managed to escape, and one was later hospitalized, officials said.
A dog that was hiding inside the house was found and rescued, but a second dog died, officials said.
Officials haven't released the identities of anyone involved. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
