GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — The Piedmont Triad's newest professional sports team is debuting its name and inaugural head coach.

Background

In January, Greensboro was announced as one of the locations that will be receiving a professional women's basketball team in the new UPSHOT League, which will begin play in May 2026.

The UPSHOT League will be operated by Zawyer Sports & Entertainment, which also owns and operates the Greensboro Gargoyles professional hockey team.

The league has already revealed the brands of its three other teams, the Charlotte Crown, the Savannah Steel and the Jacksonville Waves.
