Mental health department makes about 300 cuts to providers

The Oklahoma mental health department's interim commissioner has led the agency in making about 300 monetary cuts to mental health providers , as part of an effort to trim the budget, which he estimated to be about $40 million over budget.

Gov. Kevin Stitt appointed Interim Commissioner Greg Slavonic to serve the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services in June after the Legislature ousted the previous Commissioner Allie Friesen .
