A 47-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday (Oct. 8) after carrying a crossbow in Abbotsford.

According to an Abbotsford Police Department social media post, officers responded to reports of the man walking along Sumas Way near South Fraser Way with the weapon at 8:49 p.m.

Police say court-ordered conditions prohibited the man from possessing any weapons, including a crossbow, and he was arrested.

"Further investigation revealed that the same individual had threatened staff at a local store the previous day," police said.

The 47-year-old now faces charges of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and breach of a release order.
