Chatham-Kent bylaw officers are patrolling homeless encampments, municipal officials say.
Officers are working two shifts, weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., a Friday release said.

“These hours will be monitored and adjusted if needed to best meet the needs of the community,” it said.
In addition to enforcing the municipality’s encampment bylaw, the officers will maintain a presence at the sites, deter non-compliance and build relationships with camp residents, the release added.
“This approach will help the bylaw officers enforce the bylaw when required,” officials said.
