Royal Canadian Legion Branch 92 in Gananoque presented a cheque in the amount of $1,257.69 to the Carveth Care Centre on Sept. 19. The funds came from the Poppy Fund, which is mainly supported by the annual donation of money for poppies during the Remembrance season. This fund specifically supports projects aimed at helping veterans in need. Each such distribution has to be given special permission by Provincial Command.
“Carveth found that during the COVID-19 Pandemic, the residents were restricted to their rooms,” said Bob Howard, Branch 92 president. “This restriction also included serving the meals in their rooms. Unfortunately, they did not have over-bed tables to serve the meals on, so they approached us.”
