The Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation has received a $600,000 donation toward solar panels for the new hospital.

The funds come in the form of a RBC Foundation Community Spaces grant.

“This donation from the RBC Foundation Community Spaces Grant comes at a pivotal moment in history,” said foundation executive director Shannon Coull in a joint news release.

“We have the chance to redefine healthcare – not only by delivering advanced medical services but also by building a hospital designed to reach net-zero carbon emissions in the future.

“The solar panels this donation supports will create clean energy, lower costs, and make sure more dollars go directly to patient care.”

The hospital in Picton is scheduled to open in 2027, with all work on the site
