As the U.S. enters day nine of the government shutdown, the Connecticut Humane Society is filling some gaps amid uncertainty about pay for federal workers.
Starting now, they’re encouraging federal workers who are going without pay to take part in their pet food pantry program.

“Our pet food pantry is available year-round, but really targeting those employees that may be affected by the shutdown,” James Bias, executive director of the Connecticut Humane Society, said.
