The $74-million Forest kindergarten to Grade 12 public school has been through nearly a decade of planning, multiple cost increases, three education directors, two MPPs, two names and two locations.

But Lambton-Kent District school board and community representatives gathered Thursday next to Townsend Line for a ceremonial sod-turning for the school, which won its latest provincial approval this summer.

“We’re really excited for this day to come about,” said education director Gary Girardi. “It was a little bit of time in the making.”
