LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Arkansas officials will host a special election following the resignation of District 70 State Rep. Carlton Wing, who relieved himself of his position on Sept. 30.

The announcement was made by Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who said that officials are working to fill the vacancy in office for State Representative for District 70 of the Arkansas General Assembly.

Gov. Sanders announced that the special election will take place on June 9, 2026 and that a special primary election will happen on March 3, 2026.

The governor continued by saying that if necessary, a special primary runoff election will be held on March 31, 2026.

The period to file for candidacy will take place beginning at noon on Nov. 3, 2025 and last until noon on Nov. 12, 2025.
