The black Mercedes involved in a fatal collision belonged to Bahaa Ali – but he says he wasn’t the driver.

It was his younger brother Muhannad, a sibling who often gets mistaken for him, who was behind the wheel when it crashed into a beige Hyundai Sonata at Southdale and White Oak roads, he testified.

“I was not driving,” Ali, 31, said at his Superior Court of Justice trial, where he has pleaded not guilty to dangerous driving causing the death of 67-year-old Joan Clubb, who was a passenger in the Sonata.

“He looks like me, he’s always looked like me,” Ali said about his brother. However, to protect Muhannad, Ali said he raced to the crash scene, made a “split-second decision” to claim he was the driver and gave false police statements.
