The family of a man who died after a struggle with police in Haverhill, Massachusetts, is calling for an independent investigator to be brought in on the case, and it comes at a time of upheaval for the Haverhill Police Department with the resignation of the chief.

Francis Gigliotti died while he was being detained by Haverhill police on July 11. The death was ruled a homicide, but the investigation is ongoing and it has not yet been determined whether the actions of the officers were reasonable or justified.
