A missing 91-year-old Edgecomb man was rescued Thursday evening before the temperatures plummeted.
Valmar Thompson was not home when one of his caregivers arrived to check on him about 10 a.m. Thursday, according to Mark Latti, a spokesperson for the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.
That wasn’t initially cause for concern for the caregiver, because Thompson, who lives alone, often walks around his property during the day. The stove was still warm, so the caregiver figured he had been in the house until recently, Latti said Friday.
But when he didn’t return, the caregiver became concerned and called the police.
Game wardens began searching for Thompson, and around 5:40 p.m., Warden Chad Robertson and his dog Storm found Thompson sitting on a stone wall in the woods. He
