BERWICK — The disappearance and tragic death of a young Columbia County boy with autism inspired a state lawmaker to pursue legislation creating a new rapid public alert system.

Rep. Robert Leadbeter, R-Columbia, called on fellow legislators Friday to cosponsor and support the passage of a forthcoming bill to be named “Aiden’s Law” in memory of 6-year-old Aiden Ha.
