WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — The Boys & Girls Club of Salina is working to redevelop a part of Sunset Park into its new facility.
The city held a public information meeting on the proposal Thursday night.
The facility will mainly serve third through fifth graders, as they have the fewest activities to do in the city, said Lance Patterson, CEO of the Salina and Hutchinson Boys & Girls Clubs.
"The other thing is transportation is always an issue," Patterson said. "And so as we start this program and have this building, that's why it was important to find a location that really set well in proximity to some of those highest-need areas."
The building will cost about $5 million. So far, the club has raised more than $3 million.
